The current house started life in the 1750's and has has seen many changes, both physical and in ownership. Their son, Spencer, and in turn grandson William lived in the house until William, his wife Jennifer and their children decided to move their main home in 2013. Enjoy a walk through the garden with late summer blooms and early autumnal colours providing a delightful array of hues. The views from the house are second to none. It was Carew Davies Gilbert, wealthy through inheritance at a young age who built the second floor onto Trelissick house and many of the farm buildings that are now home to Crofters Cafe, our bookshop and facilities.

Tin Box Dog had to go back to the car at this point (dogs aren’t allowed in the house or gardens). All opinions are my own and those of my family.

There are 300 acres to explore with views over the river, and walks to ramble through woodland and countryside.

Trelissick Garden is also in the ownership of the National Trust. All of the southerly facing rooms have magnificent panoramic vistas and some have viewing stations set up with binoculars and maps. Four years later they've made great progress with the conservation team working to preserve the house and collection.

On arrival our first order of business was to give Tin Box Dog a good run around. For those bringing four-legged friends, Trelissick offers woodland walks through dappled sunlight and across open parkland with views down the estuary to the town of Falmouth.

When the family chose to leave the main part of the house in 2012 we began the trial opening of a suite of ground floor rooms with magnificent views over the Carrick Roads and Fal Estuary which you can visit today.
